How to Draw a Day Gecko
Draw a day gecko in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and body.
Step 1: Head and body
On the left, draw the gecko in one smooth line: round snout, big head, long low back, round bottom.
Tip Keep it one long bean with only a tiny dip at the neck.
Step 2: The big eye
Draw one big circle eye in the middle of the head. Add a big black pupil with a white shine.
Step 3: Grin and nostril
From the snout, draw a grin back under the eye, turning up at the end. Dot a nostril.
Step 4: Two legs
Under the chest, draw a fat leg tapering to a flat foot with 3 round toes. Add a back leg.
Tip Rub out the tummy line across the top of each leg.
Step 5: The leaf
Under the feet, draw a leaf pointed at the left, a short stem on the right, and a middle line.
Step 6: Curling tail
Start on the back. Draw a fat tail that curls down to a thin point, then into the back leg.
Tip Rub out the lines inside the tail.
Step 7: Stripe and blobs
On the snout, draw a long thin stripe pointed at both ends. Along the back, draw 3 long flat blobs.
Step 8: Green gecko
Go over your lines. Colour the whole gecko bright leaf green, around the stripe and blobs. Leave the eye white.
Step 9: Red marks
Colour the snout stripe and the 3 blobs on the back red.
Step 10: Darker green leaf
Colour the leaf and its stem darker green. Your day gecko is done!
