How to Draw a Dandelion Flower
Draw a dandelion flower in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the round bloom.
Step 1: The round bloom
Above the middle draw a round fluffy bloom, a palm wide, with short points all the way round.
Tip A dandelion bloom is a shaggy yellow ball of lots of short points.
Step 2: The green collar
Under the bloom draw a small green collar with 4 little points hanging down.
Step 3: Inner petals
From near the middle draw 6 short lines fanning up inside the bloom, stopping before the edge.
Step 4: The stem
Start under the collar. Draw 2 gently curving lines down to near the bottom, a little wider apart there.
Step 5: A jagged leaf
From the stem bottom draw a long leaf leaning up left, its round teeth pointing back, ending on the stem.
Tip Dandelion means lion's tooth: the leaf teeth point back toward the stem.
Step 6: Another jagged leaf
From the bottom of the stem draw the same jagged leaf leaning up to the right.
Step 7: The ground
Start near the left edge. Draw a soft ground line through the stem's bottom and stop near the right edge.
Step 8: Yellow bloom
Colour the spiky bloom bright yellow.
Step 9: Green collar
Colour the little collar green.
Step 10: Green stem and leaves
Colour the stem and both jagged leaves leaf green. Your dandelion flower is done!
