How to Draw an Aspen Leaf
Draw an aspen leaf in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: right half.
Step 1: Right half
Start at the top point. Curve out, then draw little bumps down the right side. Stop at the bottom middle.
Tip The leaf is almost round, as wide as it is tall.
Step 2: Left half
Start at the bottom middle. Draw the same bumpy line up the left side and end at the top point.
Step 3: Long thin stem
Start in the dip under the leaf. Draw a long thin stem curving down and back. Stop at the dip.
Tip Keep the stem thin and bendy so it does not look like a tree trunk.
Step 4: Middle vein
Start where the stem joins. Draw 1 straight vein up the middle. Stop just before the top point.
Step 5: Bottom veins
Low on the middle vein, draw 1 curved vein up and out to each side. Stop before the bumpy edge.
Step 6: More veins
Higher up, draw 2 more veins on each side, slanting the same way. Stop before the bumpy edge.
Step 7: 2 little leaves
Draw 2 small round leaves with a point, one low on each side, tilted away from the stem.
Step 8: Little stems
In each little leaf, draw a line from near the point, down the middle and out for a short stem.
Step 9: Yellow leaf
Go over your lines. Colour the big leaf yellow, right to the bumpy edge.
Step 10: Orange stem and leaves
Colour the stem and the 2 little leaves orange. Your aspen leaf is done!
