How to Draw an Eagle
Draw an eagle in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw a big round head, a bit wider than tall.
Step 2: Big hooked beak
Start high on the front of the head. Hook out and down to a point, then in to the chin.
Tip Keep the beak short and fat.
Step 3: Eye and smile
Behind the beak, draw a big eye with a black dot. Curve a smile from the beak up under it.
Step 4: Plump body
Start on the back of the head. Curve down, round a fat belly, back up, and stop under the head.
Tip The body is a plump egg, narrower than the head.
Step 5: Fan tail
Start low on the back. Draw a fan out, round the end, back to the body. Add 2 feather lines.
Step 6: Folded wing
Start under the head. Draw a round shoulder, sweep back to a point above the tail. Add 2 feather lines.
Step 7: Front foot
Start under the front of the tummy. Draw a short leg down to 3 short round toes, then back up.
Step 8: Back foot
Start on the tummy a thumb behind the first leg. Draw the same leg and toes, ending on the tummy.
Tip Leave a gap between the feet. Both sit at the same height.
Step 9: The branch
Under the toes, draw a long band from left of the beak to right of the tail, and back.
Tip Hop the top line over each toe so the bird really grips.
Step 10: Yellow beak and feet
Leave the head, eye and fan tail white, like the paper. Colour the beak, legs and toes yellow.
Step 11: Brown body, wood branch
Colour the branch light brown around the toes. Colour the body brown around the wing.
Step 12: Dark brown wing
Colour the wing dark brown, pressing harder so it is darker than the body.
