How to Draw a Cypress Tree

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a cypress tree in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the right side.

Print

  1. Step 1: The right side

Start at a point near the top. Draw 7 soft bumps down the right side and stop near the bottom.

Tip Keep it tall and thin, like a candle flame.

  2. Step 2: The left side

Start at the point again. Draw 7 matching bumps down the left side and stop near the bottom.

  3. Step 3: The bottom

Start at the bottom of the left side. Draw 2 little bumps across and stop at the right side.

  4. Step 4: The trunk

Start under the tree. Draw a short trunk down, across the ground and back up. Stop at the tree.

  5. Step 5: Leafy sweeps

Start in a dip on the left edge. Draw a curve sweeping up into the tree. Do 2.

  6. Step 6: More sweeps

From 3 dips on the right edge, draw 3 more curves sweeping up into the tree.

  7. Step 7: The ground

Draw a long ground line under the trunk. Start far left of the tree and stop far right.

  8. Step 8: Grass

On each side of the trunk, away from it, draw 3 short grass blades on the ground.

  9. Step 9: Green tree

Go over your lines. Colour the whole tall tree dark green, right to the bumpy edges.

  10. Step 10: Brown trunk

Colour the little trunk wood brown, and your cypress tree is done!
