14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a ball drop in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the ball.

Print

  1. Step 1: The ball

Near the top of your paper draw a big round circle for the ball, bigger than your fist.

Tip Leave the whole bottom of the page for the tall tower.

  2. Step 2: Two big eyes

In the top half draw 2 round eyes a gap apart. Colour a big black dot in each.

  3. Step 3: A smile

Under the eyes draw a big happy U smile: start under the left eye and stop under the right eye.

  4. Step 4: The pole

Draw a thin pole through the ball, sticking out above and below. Add a circle on top.

  5. Step 5: Crystal panels

Above the eyes draw a line across, then a zigzag touching the ball's edge. Do the same below the smile.

Tip Keep every line on the ball's edge and away from the eyes.

  6. Step 6: The rooftop

At the bottom of the pole draw a flat slab for the rooftop, wider than the pole on both sides.

  7. Step 7: The tall tower

Under the rooftop draw a tall narrow box down to the bottom of the page. Add a ground line across.

  8. Step 8: Year sign

At the top of the tower draw a sign, and write the new year on it.

  9. Step 9: Windows and door

Below the sign draw 3 rows of 2 small square windows. Add a door at the bottom.

  10. Step 10: A firework

In the top-left draw a small dot. Draw 6 short lines shooting out from it, not touching it.

  11. Step 11: Firework and confetti

Draw another firework on the right, and 2 little slanted confetti strips near the ball, not touching it.

  12. Step 12: Sky ball, yellow sign

Colour the ball sky blue, leaving the eyes white. Colour the sign and the windows yellow.

  13. Step 13: Grey tower, orange confetti

Colour the rooftop and the tower grey around the sign and windows. Colour the confetti and firework dots orange.

  14. Step 14: Slate pole

Colour the pole and its round tip slate grey. Go over your lines and the ball is ready to drop!
