How to Draw a Cul-de-Sac
Draw a cul-de-sac in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round street.
Step 1: Round street
Low on your paper draw a big wide oval for the round street at the end of the road.
Tip A cul-de-sac is a street ending in a circle, with houses all round it.
Step 2: Grassy island
Inside the oval, a little low, draw a smaller flat oval for the grassy island.
Step 3: Little tree
On the island draw a little tree: a short trunk standing on it and a bumpy round top.
Step 4: Back house
Above the oval draw a small house: a box with a pointed roof poking out past the walls.
Step 5: 2 more houses
Draw a house the same way on the left and on the right, their bottoms level with the middle house.
Step 6: Doors and windows
Give each house an arched door standing on its bottom line, and a square window beside it.
Step 7: Driveways
From each door draw a driveway: 2 lines from the house's bottom edge down to the street.
Step 8: The ground
Draw the ground line along the bottom of the houses, from the left edge across to the right edge.
Step 9: Street lamp
Between the left and middle houses, start on the ground and draw a thin pole up to a box lamp.
Step 10: The sun
Draw a small sun with short rays in the top right corner.
Step 11: A cloud
Draw a puffy cloud in the top left: little bumps over the top and a flatter line underneath.
Step 12: Yellow and sky blue
Go over your lines. Colour the right house, the sun and the lamp yellow, and the back house sky blue.
Tip Leave the windows and the cloud white.
Step 13: Green grass, grey street
Colour the grass, island and tree top green. Colour the street, driveways and lamp top grey, around the island.
Step 14: Red house, brown roofs
Colour the left house red. Colour the roofs, the doors and the tree trunk brown. Your cul-de-sac is done!
