How to Draw a Cuckoo Clock

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a cuckoo clock in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the little house.

Print

  1. Step 1: The little house

In the middle draw a house shape: a pointed triangle roof, 2 straight walls and a flat bottom.

Tip A cuckoo clock is a tiny house that tells the time.

  2. Step 2: The round dial

In the lower half of the house draw a big circle for the dial, with a second circle just inside.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

Just below the middle draw 2 big egg eyes, a small gap apart. Black dot and shine in each.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a small U smile, with a tiny oval cheek beside each end.

  5. Step 5: Hands and ticks

Draw a dot in the middle of the dial. Add a short hand straight up and a long hand up-right.

Tip Add 4 tick lines inside the rim for 12, 3, 6 and 9.

  6. Step 6: The cuckoo door

Above the dial, under the roof peak, draw a small door with a pointed top, like a tiny house.

  7. Step 7: The cuckoo bird

In the doorway draw a little bird: a round head, a plump body, a pointed beak and a dot eye.

  8. Step 8: Roof boards

Draw a second line just above each roof slope, poking out past the walls, for a thick roof edge.

  9. Step 9: Pendulum and weights

From the bottom hang a middle rod ending in a disc, and a chain and pine cone each side.

Tip The weights look like little pine cones.

  10. Step 10: Sparkles

Add four sparkles in the air around the clock.

  11. Step 11: Yellow bird and bob

Colour the dial cream, then the bird and the pendulum disc yellow. Keep the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Pink cheeks, orange beak

Colour the cheeks pink and the beak orange. Leave the clock hands black.

  13. Step 13: Wood house

Colour the house light wood around the dial, and the roof, door and pine cones brown, around the bird.

Tip Your cuckoo clock is ready to sing the hour!
