How to Draw a Chess Knight
Draw a chess knight in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the horse head.
Step 1: The horse head
Start at the bottom. Draw up the chest, out to a nose, over to an ear, and down the neck.
Step 2: Stem and base
From the neck, draw a collar, a short thick stem, a wide flat base, and back to the head.
Step 3: One big eye
On the horse head, above the nose, draw one big round eye with a black dot and white shine.
Step 4: Nostril, smile and cheek
On the nose, dot a nostril and draw a short smile under it. Add a small cheek behind the eye.
Step 5: The mane
Down the back of the neck, draw 3 short curved mane lines, each curving down and in.
Step 6: Collar lines
Draw a curved line across the bottom of the neck and one across the top of the stem.
Step 7: Base lines
Across the wide base, draw 2 gently curved lines the same way, one above the other.
Step 8: A little pawn
To the right, draw a small pawn: a round head on a body that flares out to a flat base.
Step 9: The board
Draw a long straight line under both pieces, from near the left edge of the paper to the right.
Step 10: Sparkles
Draw 3 sparkle stars around the knight, like plus signs with curved points.
Step 11: Cream knight
Colour the knight cream, going around the eye and the cheek. Leave the eye white.
Step 12: Yellow sparkles, pink cheek
Colour the sparkle stars yellow and the cheek pink.
Step 13: Slate pawn
Colour the pawn slate grey. Go over your lines and your chess knight is done!
