How to Draw a Chalkboard
Draw a chalkboard in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the frame.
Step 1: The frame
High on your paper, draw a big wide box with soft corners, nearly as wide as the page.
Tip Leave room below it for the ledge and legs.
Step 2: The board
Inside the frame, draw a second box a little in from the edges all the way round.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Draw 2 big round eyes a little apart in the middle of the board, with a black dot in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a U smile from eye to eye. Add a little oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: Chalk ledge
Under the frame, draw a skinny flat box a little wider than the frame.
Step 6: Two legs
Under each end of the ledge, draw a long thin leg down to near the bottom of the paper.
Step 7: ABC
In the top left of the board, write 3 big letters: A, B and C, like chalk writing.
Step 8: A little sum
In the top right of the board, write a little sum: 1 + 2.
Step 9: Chalk and eraser
Lay a tiny chalk stick on the left of the ledge. Draw a bigger flat eraser box on the right.
Step 10: The floor
Draw a floor line right across the paper, touching the bottom of the legs. Lift your pencil at each leg.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, grey eraser
Go over your lines, then colour the cheeks pink and the eraser grey.
Step 12: Green board
Colour the board green, around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Wood frame and ledge
Colour the frame, ledge and legs wood brown, around the board, chalk and eraser. Your chalkboard is ready for class!
