How to Draw a Crow
Draw a crow in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top left draw a big round head, a little wider than tall, with a tiny chin bump.
Tip Leave room on the right and below for the body and branch.
Step 2: Long pointed beak
Start on the front of the head. Draw a triangle beak pointing left, to the chin. Add a mouth line.
Step 3: One big eye
A finger behind the beak draw a big round eye. Fill it with a black dot, leaving a white speck.
Step 4: Plump body
Start low behind the head. Curve down to the rump, round a fat belly, and up to the chin.
Tip The body is narrower than the head, so the head stays big.
Step 5: Fan tail
Start on the rump. Draw a wide fan down and back, ending on the tummy. Add 2 feather lines.
Step 6: Folded wing
Start behind the head. Draw a teardrop wing along the side, pointing at the tail. Add 2 feather lines.
Step 7: Front leg and toes
Start under the front of the tummy. Draw a skinny leg down, 3 chubby toes, then back to the tummy.
Tip 3 chubby toes curl down, ready to grip the branch.
Step 8: Back leg and toes
Start on the tummy a thumb further back. Draw a second leg and toes the same way.
Step 9: The branch
Below the toes draw a long branch, round on the left and flat on the right, behind the toes.
Tip The toe tips poke out just under the branch.
Step 10: Wooden branch
Colour the branch a light wood brown, going round the toes.
Step 11: Navy wing and tail
Colour the folded wing and the fan tail navy blue.
Step 12: Black crow
Colour the head, beak, body, legs and toes black, around the wing and tail. Leave the eye white.
Tip Press lightly so your lines still show.
