How to Draw a Christmas Owl

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a Christmas owl in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: owl body.

Print

  1. Step 1: Owl body

Draw a big egg. Give the top 2 pointy corners for feather tufts, with a flat dip between them.

Tip Make it fill most of your paper.

  2. Step 2: Two huge eyes

In the top half draw 2 huge circles, close together. Colour a big black dot in each.

Tip Leave a small white shine in each black dot.

  3. Step 3: Little beak

Under the gap between the eyes draw a small beak, like a triangle pointing down.

  4. Step 4: Hat band

Above the eyes, below the tufts, draw a fat sausage band that curves up in the middle.

Tip Rub out the body lines inside the band.

  5. Step 5: Santa hat

From the band draw a soft pointed hat leaning right. Put a fluffy ball on its tip.

Tip The hat is a soft cone, not a sharp triangle.

  6. Step 6: Leaf wings

On each side draw a fat leaf wing hanging down to a point. It pokes out past the body.

Tip Rub out the body line inside each wing.

  7. Step 7: Round tummy

Under the beak, between the wings, draw a big oval for the tummy.

  8. Step 8: Tummy feathers

Inside the tummy draw 3 little U shapes in a row, then 2 below in the gaps.

Tip Keep every feather inside the tummy oval.

  9. Step 9: The branch

Draw a long branch across the paper under the owl, with round ends.

  10. Step 10: Gripping feet

Under the tummy draw 2 feet on the branch. Each foot has 3 round toes.

  11. Step 11: Yellow and orange

Colour the eyes yellow, around the black dots. Colour the beak and the feet orange.

  12. Step 12: Cream and red

Colour the tummy cream. Colour the hat red. Leave the band and the fluffy ball white.

  13. Step 13: Brown owl

Colour the body light brown, around the tummy. Colour the wings and the branch dark brown.
