How to Draw a Hair Bun
Draw a hair bun in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw a big egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Make it big: the hair needs room on top.
Step 2: Two ears
On each side of the head draw a C ear. Start on the head line, bulge out, end on it.
Step 3: Big eyes
Below the middle of the head draw 2 tall oval eyes, 1 eye apart. Add a black dot in each.
Step 4: Nose, smile and brows
Between the eyes draw a tiny U nose. Under it draw a wide smile with curled ends. Add 2 eyebrows.
Step 5: Fringe
Start on the left side of the head by the eyebrows. Curve across the forehead and stop on the right.
Step 6: Top of the hair
Start at the left end of the fringe. Draw a rainbow hugging the head and stop at the right end.
Step 7: The bun
On the very top of the head draw a big round bun sitting on the hair.
Tip The bun is about as big as a fist.
Step 8: Hair tie and swirl
Across the bottom of the bun draw a curved band for the tie. Inside the bun draw a swirl.
Step 9: Combed lines
On each side, start at the edge of the hair by the fringe. Curve up to the tie.
Step 10: Neck and shirt
Under the chin draw 2 short neck lines. From each draw a shoulder sloping out. Add a little U collar.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour pink cheeks, then the face, ears and neck peach around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Yellow hair, pink tie
Colour the hair and the bun yellow and the hair tie pink.
Step 13: Blue shirt
Colour the shirt blue, all the way down. Go over your lines and you're done.
