How to Draw a Swimming Crocodile
Draw a swimming crocodile in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long snout.
Step 1: Long snout
Start at the mouth corner. Draw a mouth line left, round the nose bump, over the brow and back.
Tip Long and low, with a bump at the nose and a hill at the back. Dot a nostril.
Step 2: Lower jaw
Start under the nose. Draw a thin jaw back under the mouth line. Stop under the mouth corner.
Tip The jaw is thinner than the snout and a little shorter at the front.
Step 3: Pointy teeth
Start behind the nose. Draw 6 little triangle teeth hanging from the mouth line. Stop before the mouth corner.
Step 4: Eyes on top
On the hill at the back draw a big circle poking up. Draw a smaller one behind it.
Tip Add a black dot and a tiny shine in each eye. Rub out the head line inside.
Step 5: Body and tail
From the back of the head draw a fat body that thins into a long tail, dipping down then up.
Tip The tail sweeps like a letter S and ends in a soft point.
Step 6: Back hills
Along the top of the back and tail draw 6 round hills in a row, smaller towards the end.
Tip Every hill sits on the back line with no gap.
Step 7: Near legs
Under the body draw 2 short fat legs paddling backwards, each ending in a round foot.
Tip Each leg is thin at the ankle. Add 2 toe lines on each foot.
Step 8: Far legs
Draw 2 more legs reaching forwards, tucked behind the body. Add 2 toe lines on each foot.
Tip Now the crocodile has 4 legs for swimming.
Step 9: Water line
Start at the left edge. Draw a wavy water line, skip over the crocodile and stop at the right edge.
Tip The eyes, the nose bump and the top of the back stay above the water.
Step 10: Green and cream
Colour the head, body, tail and 2 near legs light green. Colour the jaw cream, around the teeth.
Tip Keep the eyes and teeth white.
Step 11: Dark green
Colour the 6 hills on the back and the 2 far legs darker green.
Step 12: Blue water
Colour the water blue under the wavy line, right up to the crocodile. Your swimming crocodile is done!
