How to Draw a Crate
Draw a crate in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the front.
Step 1: The front
Lower middle, draw a big box for the front, a bit wider than tall. Leave room on the right.
Step 2: The side
From the front's right corners slant 2 lines up right, joined by an upright line. Split it into 3 boards.
Tip The slanted lines lean the same way, like a path going away from you.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the front, a little left of middle, draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile from eye to eye, and a small flat oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: The wooden frame
On the front draw a line just inside each edge, all 4 sides, for the wooden frame around the boards.
Step 6: The open top
From the front's top left corner slant a line up right, then straight across to the side's top.
Step 7: Three apples
Peeking over the top of the front draw 3 round apples side by side, with a tiny stalk on each.
Step 8: Nails and grain
Draw a tiny nail dot in each corner of the frame, and 2 short slanted grain lines on the side.
Step 9: Sparkles, floor and shadow
Add 4 sparkles, a thin oval shadow along the crate's bottom edge, and a floor line out from each end.
Step 10: Pink cheeks, tan front
Colour the cheeks pink, then the front tan around them, leaving the eyes white.
Step 11: Wood side, grey shadow
Colour the side boards wood brown and the shadow grey.
Step 12: Red apples, dark inside
Go over your lines, then colour the apples red and the inside of the crate dark brown around them.

Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a crate, drawn by you.
