How to Draw a Cradle

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a cradle in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cradle box.

Print

  1. Step 1: The cradle box

In the middle draw a wide box, a little narrower at the bottom, like a tub from the side.

  2. Step 2: The hood

Start at the box's top left corner. Curve over like a rainbow, down to the top edge near the middle.

Tip The hood is about as tall as the box.

  3. Step 3: 2 big eyes

On the box, right of the hood, draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a U smile from eye to eye. Draw a small flat oval cheek at each end.

  5. Step 5: The blanket

Along the top edge, right of the hood, draw 3 soft bumps like little hills, for the blanket.

  6. Step 6: 2 legs

Under the box draw 2 short upright legs, one near each end, going straight down.

  7. Step 7: The rocker

Under the legs draw a fat curved runner like a wide smile, poking out past both legs.

  8. Step 8: 3 stars

On the hood draw 3 big stars, 2 near the top and 1 under them.

  9. Step 9: The floor

Draw a long floor line under the rocker, from past the left end to past the right end.

  10. Step 10: Yellow stars, pink cheeks

Colour the stars yellow and the cheeks pink.

  11. Step 11: Wood cradle

Go over your lines, then colour the box, legs and rocker wood brown, around the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Navy hood, sky blanket

Colour the hood navy, going around the stars, and the blanket sky blue. Your cradle is ready to rock!
