How to Draw a Sleeping Cow
Draw a sleeping cow in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big soft head.
Step 1: Big soft head
On the left draw a big soft head, a little wider than tall, with round corners.
Tip Leave room on the right for the long body.
Step 2: Big snout
Low on the head draw a big egg snout poking out to the left. Add 2 nostrils and a smile.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the snout.
Step 3: Sleepy eyes
Start above the snout. Draw a short smile curve and stop. Draw 1 more beside it for closed eyes.
Tip Closed eyes show the cow is fast asleep.
Step 4: Two horns
On top of the head draw 2 short banana horns curving up and in.
Step 5: Leaf ears
On each side of the head, under a horn, draw a leaf ear with a small leaf inside.
Step 6: Long low back
Start on the head under the ear. Draw a long low back, curl round the bottom and stop.
Tip A lying cow is long and low, like a hill.
Step 7: Folded front leg
Draw a ground line. Lay a sausage leg on it. Start at the chin and stop on its fat end.
Tip The fat end is the knee. A short line across the thin end makes the hoof.
Step 8: Folded back leg
Lay a long back leg on the ground. Start on it, curve a thigh up and stop on the bottom.
Tip A short line across the thin end makes the hoof. The 2 hooves point at each other.
Step 9: Tail and tuft
From the top of the bottom draw a thin tail hanging down. Add a leaf tuft on its end.
Step 10: Three patches
Draw 3 wobbly patches: a big one on the back, one on the thigh, a small one by the shoulder.
Step 11: Sleepy zzz
Above the cow draw 3 letter Z shapes floating up, each one bigger than the last.
Step 12: Pink and sand
Colour the snout and ear middles pink. Colour the horns sand yellow. Leave the cow white.
Step 13: Green and grey
Colour the grass under the line green. Colour the 2 hooves grey.
Step 14: Black patches
Colour the 3 patches and the tail tuft black. Your sleeping cow is done!
