How to Draw a Cow
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big head.
Step 1: Big head
Near the top left, draw a big round head, a little wider than tall, with a round chin.
Tip A big head makes it cute. Leave room on the right for the body.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
Draw 2 big eyes in the middle of the head. Below, an egg snout with 2 nostrils and a smile.
Tip Leave a white shine in each eye. Nothing touches the eyes.
Step 3: Horns and ears
Draw 2 short banana horns on top. Add a leaf ear sticking out each side, with a smaller leaf inside.
Tip Add a tiny ring on each horn. Ears sit on the top corners.
Step 4: The neck
Draw 2 neck lines: one from behind the head to the back, one from the chin down to the chest.
Tip The neck gets wider toward the body.
Step 5: Bean body
Start at the neck. Draw a long back, round a big bottom, along the tummy, and up to the chest.
Tip A bean, not a loaf: the bottom is rounder and higher than the chest.
Step 6: Two legs
From the chest, draw a front leg with a little knee. Under the bottom, a big back leg. Add hooves.
Tip Both legs get thinner down to the hoof. Hooves are flat little doorstops.
Step 7: Far legs and ground
Draw a far leg peeking behind each near leg, with its own hoof. Rule the ground under all 4 hooves.
Tip Only draw the parts you can see. Leave a little gap between the hooves.
Step 8: The tail
From the top corner of the bottom, draw a tail that gets thinner down to a leaf tuft.
Tip The tail grows from the top corner of the bottom, not the back.
Step 9: Patches
Draw 3 big wobbly patches: on the shoulder, the bottom and the tummy.
Tip Keep the patches big and simple.
Step 10: Pink snout and ears
Go over your lines. Colour the snout and the inner ears pink. Leave the body and eyes white.
Step 11: Sand horns, grey hooves
Colour the horns and the tail tuft sand, and the hooves slate grey.
Step 12: Black patches
Colour the patches black.
