How to Draw the Cow Jumping Over the Moon
Draw the cow jumping over the moon in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
In the top left draw a big round head, tilted up a little. Leave lots of room on the right.
Tip A big head makes it cute: about as big as the body is deep.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
Draw 2 big oval eyes with black dots. Under them draw a big egg snout with nostrils and a smile.
Tip Keep a gap between the eyes and the snout, and leave the eyes white.
Step 3: Horns and ears
On the head draw 2 short banana horns curving up. On each side draw a leaf ear sticking out.
Step 4: The body
From under the snout draw a big bean body sloping up right, round a big bottom, back to the head.
Step 5: Four flying legs
Draw a front leg reaching forward and a back leg stretching back, with hooves. Tuck a far leg behind each.
Tip Bend each leg softly and make it thinner down to a round hoof.
Step 6: The tail
From the top of the bottom, draw a short tail getting thinner, with a leaf-shaped tuft on the tip.
Tip The tail flies out behind because the cow is leaping.
Step 7: The moon and stars
Under the tummy draw a crescent moon on its back like a fat banana, points up. Add 4 little stars.
Tip The moon sits a finger below the hooves, so the cow leaps over it.
Step 8: Patches
Draw some wobbly patches: a big one on the shoulder, one on the bottom and one on the tummy.
Step 9: Sand horns, pink snout
Leave the cow and eyes white. Colour the horns and tuft sand, and the snout and inner ears pink.
Step 10: Yellow moon and stars
Colour the moon and the 4 stars yellow.
Step 11: Slate hooves
Colour all 4 hooves slate grey. Leave the legs and tail white.
Step 12: Black patches
Colour the patches black. The cow jumped over the moon!
