How to Draw Coral
Draw coral in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rock.
Step 1: The rock
Low on your paper draw a wide lumpy rock, like a loaf of bread.
Step 2: Branching coral
On the rock draw a thick trunk that splits into 3 branches. Each branch forks into 2 round tips.
Tip Make the tips different heights, like a little tree.
Step 3: Happy face
Low on the trunk draw 2 egg eyes with a black dot each, a U smile and 2 oval cheeks.
Step 4: Polyp dots
Draw 6 little solid dots along the branches, none on the trunk. Keep them away from the face.
Tip Coral is really thousands of tiny animals living together.
Step 5: Sandy floor
From the left edge of your paper, draw a gently wavy sand line under the rock to the right edge.
Step 6: Little coral
On the right, standing on the sand, draw a small coral with 2 round branches.
Step 7: Bubbles
Up on the left draw 3 round bubbles floating up: small, bigger, biggest.
Step 8: Little fish
On the right, beside the coral, draw a little fish: a pointed egg, a triangle tail, a dot eye.
Step 9: Seaweed
On the left, start on the sand. Draw a wiggly seaweed blade up to a point, back to the sand.
Step 10: Sand and fish
Colour the sandy floor light tan and the fish yellow.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, orange coral
Colour the cheeks pink, then both corals orange around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Grey rock, green weed
Colour the rock grey and the seaweed green. Go over your lines and your coral is done!
