How to Draw a Hurricane
Draw a hurricane in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: calm eye.
Step 1: Calm eye
Above the middle of your paper draw a small circle: the calm eye of the storm.
Tip Everything will swirl round this little circle.
Step 2: Swirl
Start on the eye and draw 3 curly lines swirling out to far tips, like a pinwheel.
Tip Leave plenty of sky between the lines.
Step 3: Cloud arms
From each line's tip draw cloud bumps round the outside, then curve back in to the eye.
Tip Each arm is fat near the eye and thin at its tip.
Step 4: Sand and sea
Draw low wave bumps edge to edge. On the left draw a sand hill starting and ending on the waves.
Step 5: Bending palm
Start on top of the sand hill. Draw a palm trunk bending hard to the right, stopping near the middle.
Step 6: Blown fronds
From the top of the trunk draw 3 long pointed leaves all streaming to the right.
Step 7: Wind and rain
On the right draw 2 long curved wind lines and 6 slanted rain dashes.
Step 8: Blue eye, sandy hill
Go over your lines. Colour the eye sky blue and the sand hill sandy yellow.
Step 9: Grey storm, blue sea
Colour the cloud swirl grey all around the eye, and the sea blue under the waves.
Step 10: Brown trunk, green leaves
Colour the palm trunk brown and the leaves green. Your hurricane is done!

Your finished drawing
