How to Draw a Castle Gate
Draw a castle gate in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the gatehouse.
Step 1: The gatehouse
In the middle, draw a tall block with square teeth along the top, like a castle.
Step 2: Two towers
On each side, draw a taller thinner tower right against the gatehouse, with square teeth on top.
Step 3: The big arch
In the middle of the gatehouse, draw a big arched gateway standing on the bottom line.
Step 4: The gate bars
Inside the arch, draw 3 lines straight down from the arch to the bottom, and 2 lines across.
Step 5: The drawbridge
From the bottom of the gateway, draw a wide strip coming toward you. Add 2 plank lines.
Step 6: Chains
Above each arch corner, slant a line down to the drawbridge's near corner. Add 6 little ovals along it.
Step 7: Windows and slits
Above the arch, draw a small arched window. On each tower, draw a tall thin slit and some bricks.
Step 8: Flag and ground
From the gatehouse top, draw a pole up, stopping at a knob. Add a triangle flag and ground lines.
Step 9: The moat
Below the ground, draw 2 wavy water lines each side of the drawbridge. Join the outer ends with a curve.
Step 10: Stone castle
Colour the gatehouse and both towers grey stone, going round the arch, window and slits.
Step 11: Wooden gate and bridge
Colour the gateway behind the bars and the drawbridge wood brown, and the flag red.
Step 12: Blue moat
Colour the moat water blue, going around the drawbridge. Go over your lines and your castle gate is done!
