How to Draw a Compass
Draw a compass in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round case.
Step 1: Round case
In the middle of your paper draw one big circle, most of the way across the page.
Step 2: Face
Inside it draw a second circle a finger in, all the way round, so the rim is thick.
Step 3: Marks
Around the inside of the face draw 8 short marks like a clock: 4 long ones, 4 short ones between.
Step 4: N, E, S, W
By the 4 long marks write N at the top, E right, S at the bottom, W left.
Step 5: Needle
In the middle draw a thin diamond needle: one triangle pointing up, one pointing down. Add a pin.
Step 6: Ring on top
Start on top of the case. Draw a short neck up and back down to the case. Add a ring.
Step 7: Shine
On the upper left of the face draw a small curved bean shape along the rim for the shine.
Step 8: Cream face
Go over your lines. Colour the face cream around the needle and the shine, leaving them white.
Step 9: Grey case
Colour the thick rim, the neck, the ring and the pin grey.
Step 10: Red north, white south
Colour the top half of the needle red and leave the bottom half white. Your compass is done!
