How to Draw the Colosseum
Draw the Colosseum in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big stone ring.
Step 1: The big stone ring
Start low left. Go up over a rainbow, jag down 2 broken steps, then across and down to the bottom.
Tip Part of the top has crumbled away, so the right side is lower.
Step 2: Two floor lines
Curve a line across the tall left part for the top floor, and a longer one lower across the ring.
Step 3: Top arches
On the top floor draw 4 arches close together, each a tall rainbow standing on the floor line.
Tip Keep the wall between the arches thin, like pillars.
Step 4: Middle arches
On the middle floor draw 7 taller arches all the way across, lined up under the top ones.
Step 5: The great gate
In the bottom middle draw an arched gate a bit bigger than the arches above, with 2 bars inside.
Step 6: Bottom arches
On each side of the gate draw 3 arches standing on the bottom line, under the ones above.
Step 7: The ground line
Start near the left edge and draw a flat ground line along the bottom, stopping near the right edge.
Step 8: Two bushes
On the ground, a finger away from each side of the ring, draw a small half-circle bush.
Step 9: The sun
In the top right corner draw a round sun with 8 short rays around it.
Step 10: Sun and stone
Colour the sun yellow. Colour the stone ring sand, going around the arches and the gate.
Step 11: Green bushes, dark gate
Colour the bushes leaf green. Colour inside the gate and the bottom arches slate grey.
Step 12: Dark arches
Colour inside the top and middle arches slate grey too. Go over your lines and your Colosseum is done!
