How to Draw a Coloring Book
Draw a coloring book in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: left page.
Step 1: Left page
Start in the middle. Draw a wide page out to the left, bowed top and bottom. Stop at the middle.
Tip The pages bow because the book is open.
Step 2: Right page
Do the same on the right side, so the 2 pages match and meet in the middle.
Step 3: The covers
Start at each page's outer corner. Draw a cover curving under it and stop under the middle.
Tip The cover peeks out below the pages.
Step 4: Page edges
Draw 2 curved lines under each page, following its bottom, from the outside corner to the middle.
Step 5: A flower
On the left page draw a small circle. Add 5 round petals all the way around it.
Tip Start with the petal at the top, then fit 2 on each side.
Step 6: Stem and leaves
From between the 2 bottom petals draw a thin stem straight down. Add a pointed leaf on each side.
Step 7: A star
On the right page draw a big star with 5 points.
Tip This picture stays empty, ready to colour in.
Step 8: A crayon
Under the book draw a long thin crayon lying down: a bar with a round end and a pointed tip.
Tip Tilt it a little, as if someone just put it down.
Step 9: Crayon label
Draw 2 short lines across the crayon for its label. Start on the top edge, stop on the bottom edge.
Step 10: Cream pages
Go over your lines. Colour both pages and the page edges cream, going around the flower.
Tip Colour softly so your lines still show.
Step 11: Yellow and green
Colour the middle of the flower yellow. Colour the stem and both leaves green.
Step 12: Red petals, red crayon
Colour the 5 petals red. Colour the crayon red too, but leave its label white.
Step 13: Blue cover
Colour the cover blue. Leave the star empty, a colouring book always has more to colour!
