How to Draw a Colobus Monkey
Draw a colobus monkey in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw a big round head, a little wider than tall, with full cheeks.
Tip Make it big: half the whole monkey. Leave room for ears.
Step 2: Ears and cap
Add a big C ear on each side, small C inside. Draw a cap line from ear over to ear.
Step 3: Heart face and eyes
Under the cap draw a big heart, bumps on top. Put an eye with a black dot in each bump.
Step 4: Nose and smile
Add 2 nostril dots. Start under the left eye and draw a wide U smile, stopping under the right eye.
Step 5: Egg body
Start on each cheek. Draw a C down for the body side. Join the ends with a sagging curve.
Tip The body is narrower than the head: it fits between the ears.
Step 6: Hanging arm
Start under the right cheek. Draw a round shoulder and arm down to a mitten hand, back to the body.
Tip Keep the shoulder round. Add 2 short finger lines on the mitten.
Step 7: Other hanging arm
Start under the left cheek. Draw the other arm the same way, down to a mitten hand.
Step 8: The white cape
From each shoulder draw a long fur cape down past the hand, with 3 soft bumps along the bottom.
Tip The white cape is what makes a colobus.
Step 9: Two feet
Start on the bottom line, each side. Draw a short leg down to a round bun foot and back up.
Tip Add 2 short toe lines on each foot.
Step 10: Tail and tuft
Start behind the right leg. Draw a tail sweeping out and up, getting thinner, ending in a fluffy tuft.
Step 11: The ground
Draw the ground: a long line right under the feet.
Step 12: Dark grey face
Colour the heart face dark grey, going round the eyes so they stay white.
Step 13: Dark grey fur
Colour the cap, ears, body, arms, feet and tail dark grey. Leave the face ring, cape and tuft white.
