How to Draw a Stork
Draw a stork in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a small round head.
Step 1: A small round head
Near the top left draw a small round head. Start at the bottom and stop short, leaving a neck gap.
Tip Leave lots of room below for a long neck, a body and long legs.
Step 2: Long dagger beak
From the head's front draw a long dagger beak out left, back to the chin. Add a mouth line.
Tip The beak is about as long as the head, like a dagger.
Step 3: One big eye
Behind the beak, level with the middle of the head, draw a big round eye with a black dot.
Step 4: Long thin neck
From the gap under the head draw 2 neck lines down like a lazy S, stopping well below.
Tip Keep the neck smooth and curvy, a little wider where it joins the body.
Step 5: Slim oval body
From the back neck line draw a slim oval body, 2 heads wide, back to the front neck line.
Step 6: Folded wing
Draw a folded wing: start behind the neck, along the back to the rump, sweep under, back to the start.
Step 7: Pointed tail
At the tip of the wing draw a short pointed tail, from the wing to a point and back.
Step 8: One long leg
Under the tummy front draw a long leg that bends backwards and gets thin. Add 3 short toes pointing forward.
Tip Stork legs are long and thin like 2 pencils, fatter at the top.
Step 9: The other long leg
A hand further back draw the second leg the same way, with 3 short toes on the ground.
Step 10: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line from the left edge to the right edge, hopping over the feet. Add grass tufts.
Step 11: Red beak and legs
Leave the head, neck and eye white, like the paper. Colour the beak, both legs and their toes red.
Step 12: White body, dark wing
Leave the slim body white. Colour the wing dark grey, going round the feather lines, and the pointed tail black.
