How to Draw a Weaver Bird
Draw a weaver bird in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Near the top left of your paper draw a big round head, a little wider than tall.
Tip Leave room below for the body, a branch and a hanging nest.
Step 2: Cone beak
On the head's front draw a short fat beak. Start a mouth line at its tip, stop at the head.
Step 3: One big eye
Behind the beak draw a big round eye with a big black dot and a white shine.
Step 4: Face mask
Start on the forehead. Draw a curve round behind the eye and down to the chin for the mask.
Tip Keep a gap between the mask line and the eye.
Step 5: Plump body
Start on the back of the head. Draw a plump egg body hanging down. End under the beak.
Step 6: Fan tail
Under the back of the body draw a fan tail pointing down and back. Add 2 feather lines.
Step 7: Folded wing
From behind the head draw a teardrop wing along the side, pointing at the tail. Add 3 feather lines.
Step 8: Two legs
Under the tummy draw 2 short legs, narrower at the ankle, each with 3 chubby toes.
Step 9: The branch
Under the toes draw a long thin branch across the page, hopping over each toe.
Step 10: Hanging nest
Under the branch, right of the bird, draw a short neck and a big round pouch hanging down.
Tip Make the nest a little fatter at the bottom, like a pear.
Step 11: Door and weaving
Draw an oval door low on the nest. Add 6 crossing lines from edge to edge, hopping over the door.
Step 12: Yellow bird, tan nest
Go over your lines. Colour the head and body yellow and the nest tan. Leave the eye white.
Step 13: Green wing, peach legs
Colour the wing and the tail green. Colour the legs and toes peach.
Step 14: Black mask, brown branch
Colour the mask black around the eye and the beak grey. Colour the branch and the door brown.
