How to Draw a Cod
Draw a cod in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long body.
Step 1: Long body
Start on the right. Draw a long back to a round snout, then a deep tummy back again.
Tip Leave the right end open for the tail.
Step 2: Eye and smile
Draw a big round eye with a pupil and 2 shines. From the snout draw a little smile.
Step 3: Chin whisker
Start under the chin. Draw 1 short whisker hanging down, curving back a little.
Tip The chin whisker is how you know it is a cod.
Step 4: Fan tail
Start at the back's end. Draw a tail like a fan with a nearly straight end. Close it.
Step 5: Three back fins
Along the back draw 3 round fins in a row, each a bit smaller. Start and stop on the back.
Tip Three fins on the back is special to a cod.
Step 6: Two belly fins
Under the tummy draw 2 round fins, below the last 2 back fins. Start and stop on the tummy.
Step 7: The gill
Behind the eye, start on the back. Draw a C bowing towards the tail and stop on the tummy.
Step 8: Side fin
Just behind the gill, below the middle, draw a small leaf for the side fin pointing back.
Step 9: Side line
Start on the gill above the side fin. Draw a long line back and stop at the tail.
Tip Let the line rise a little at first, like a low hill.
Step 10: Speckles
Above the side line draw 5 small dark dots along the back for speckles.
Step 11: Cream tummy
Colour the tummy cream, below the side line and behind the gill. Go around the side fin.
Step 12: Sandy head and back
Colour the head and the back sandy brown, above the side line. Leave the eye white.
Step 13: Brown fins and tail
Colour the tail and all 6 fins dark brown. Your cod is done!
