How to Draw a Uakari

Draw a uakari in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Step 1: The head
Near the top draw a big head with a smooth bald top and shaggy fur bumps round the bottom.
Step 2: Small round ears
On each side draw a small C ear, from the head back to the head. Add a smaller C inside.
Step 3: Bald face and eyes
From under one ear draw a U round to the other ear. Add 2 big eyes with dots and shines.
Tip Above the U the whole head is bald and bright red, like a tomato in a fur coat.
Step 4: Nose and smile
Under the eyes colour 2 nostril dots. Draw a wide U smile from under the left eye to the right.
Step 5: Egg body and tummy
Start under the left cheek. Draw an egg body down and round to the right cheek. Add an oval tummy.
Tip The body is narrower than the shaggy head.
Step 6: Hanging arm
From under the right cheek draw an arm over the body's side, then a mitten hand with 2 finger lines.
Step 7: Other hanging arm
From under the left cheek draw the other arm and mitten hand the same way, with 2 finger lines.
Step 8: Legs and feet
From the body's bottom draw 2 legs down to bun feet, thinner at the ankles, and back to the body.
Tip Draw a little ankle line where the foot starts, and 2 toes on each foot.
Step 9: Short stub tail
From behind the right leg, near the top, draw a stub tail out and down, and back to the leg.
Tip Uakaris are the only monkeys in South America with a SHORT tail.
Step 10: The ground
Draw the ground: a long line right under the feet.
Step 11: Peach and ginger
Colour the inner ears, tummy, hands and feet peach. Colour the fur, arms, legs and tail ginger around them.
Step 12: Red bald head
Colour the bald head and the ears bright red, around the inner ears. Leave the eyes white.
