How to Draw a Cobra
Draw a cobra in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, in the middle, draw a big round head, a little wider than it is tall.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the head draw 2 big eggy eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Nostrils and smile
Under the eyes dot 2 tiny nostrils. From under the left eye draw a wide smile to the right eye.
Step 4: Forked tongue
From the middle of the smile draw a tongue down past the chin. Split the end into 2 points.
Step 5: The hood
Start beside the top of the head. Curve out wide, then in to a thin neck. Match the other side.
Tip The hood is like a big spoon behind the head, widest beside the chin.
Step 6: The belly stripe
From the chin draw 2 lines down the middle to the end of the neck. Add 4 lines across.
Step 7: Top coil
Across the bottom of the neck draw a long sausage shape with round ends, as wide as the hood.
Step 8: Bottom coil and tail
Under it draw a longer sausage. From its right end draw a pointed tail tip along the bottom.
Step 9: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line under the coils from the left edge to the right edge. Add 3 grass blades.
Step 10: Bands
Draw 5 bands across the coils: 2 on the top coil, 3 on the bottom. Each is 2 lines.
Step 11: Cream belly
Colour the belly stripe cream, around the tongue.
Step 12: Sand cobra
Colour the head, hood, coils and tail sand, around the belly and bands. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Brown bands
Colour the 5 bands brown and the tongue red. Go over your lines and your cobra is done!
