How to Draw a Cobblestone
Draw a cobblestone in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the road.
Step 1: The road
Start near the top middle. Draw 2 long lines down, spreading apart. Stop at the bottom corners.
Tip The road looks narrow far away and wide close to you.
Step 2: The far end
Draw a flat line right across the paper, touching the tops of both lines.
Step 3: Front row
At the bottom draw a row of 3 big rounded stones between the lines, with small gaps.
Tip Soft corners, like bars of soap.
Step 4: Second row
Above the gaps draw 2 stones. At each end add a half stone, starting and stopping on the road's edge.
Tip Each half stone is tucked against the edge of the road.
Step 5: Third row
Above them draw a row of 3 stones, a little smaller than the front ones.
Tip Each row is smaller because it is further away.
Step 6: Fourth row
Draw 2 smaller stones, then a half stone at each end, starting and stopping on the edge.
Step 7: Fifth row
Above them draw a row of 3 small stones.
Step 8: Far row
Under the flat line draw 2 tiny stones. Add tiny half stones that start and stop on the edge.
Step 9: Grass
On each side of the road draw 2 grass tufts, each 3 short blades from one spot.
Tip Keep the grass away from the edges of the road.
Step 10: Sandy gaps
Go over your lines. Colour the road sand, going around all the stones.
Tip The sandy gaps are the dirt between the stones.
Step 11: Big grey stones
Colour the 3 front rows of stones grey, and their half stones too.
Step 12: Far grey stones
Colour the 3 far rows of small stones grey as well.
Step 13: Green grass, blue sky
Colour the ground on both sides of the road green, and the sky above the flat line blue.
