How to Draw a North Dakota Flag
Draw a north dakota flag in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: pole and ground.
Step 1: Pole and ground
Draw a tall thin pole on the left, a ball on top, and a ground line from edge to edge.
Step 2: The waving flag
Start on the pole below the ball. Draw a wavy top edge, a straight right side, a wavy bottom edge.
Tip Make the flag big and nearly square. It has to hold an eagle and a scroll.
Step 3: Eagle's head
Near the top of the flag draw a round head with a bumpy neck, a hooked beak and an eye.
Tip The beak points to the left and hooks down at the tip.
Step 4: The body
Under the head draw an egg shape for the body, a little wider than the head.
Step 5: Two wings
From each shoulder draw a wing reaching up and out, with 4 soft feather bumps along the bottom.
Tip Draw one wing, then copy it on the other side so they match.
Step 6: The shield
Draw a pointed shield over the body. Add a line across, then 2 lines from it down to the edge.
Step 7: The tail
Start on the shield's left side. Draw a fan tail with 3 rounded feather tips. Stop on its right side.
Step 8: Sun rays
Over the head draw 5 pointed rays in a fan, like a rising sun.
Tip The points face outwards. Leave a gap above the head so it is not a crown.
Step 9: The scroll
Under the tail draw a long thin box for the scroll. Cut a V into each end.
Step 10: Write the name
On the scroll write NORTH DAKOTA in small capital letters.
Tip Count the letters as you go: 5, a gap, then 6.
Step 11: Yellow and grey
Colour the ball, the beak and the 5 rays yellow. Colour the pole grey.
Step 12: Red scroll and stripes
Colour the scroll red, around the letters. On the shield colour the 2 outside stripes red.
Step 13: Brown eagle
Colour the body, both wings and the tail brown. Leave the head and neck white.
Step 14: Blue flag
Colour the top of the shield and the whole flag blue, around the eagle, rays and scroll.
