How to Draw a Clock

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a clock in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: face and rim.

Print

  1. Step 1: Face and rim

Draw a big circle in the middle of your paper. Draw a second circle just inside it for the rim.

Tip Keep the gap between the circles the same all the way round.

  2. Step 2: Four numbers

Write a small 12 at the top, 3 on the right, 6 at the bottom and 9 on the left.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

Draw 2 big round eyes in the middle, almost touching. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a white speck.

  4. Step 4: Open smile

Draw a short line under the eyes. From one end draw a U down to the other. Add a tongue.

Tip Leave room above the eyes for the clock hands.

  5. Step 5: Two bell necks

At 10 o'clock on the rim draw a short neck leaning out, closed across the top. Same at 2 o'clock.

Tip The necks lean away from each other, like 2 ears.

  6. Step 6: Hammer

Start on top of the rim with a tiny upside-down U. Draw a skinny post up to a ball.

  7. Step 7: Two bells

On each neck draw a flat pill. Start at one end, draw a big hump over to the other.

  8. Step 8: Pin and hands

Under the 12, draw a circle. From it draw a short arrow up to the 12, a long one up-right.

  9. Step 9: Feet and ground

Under the rim draw 2 short feet leaning out. Draw a ground line under them.

  10. Step 10: Ring ring!

Over each bell draw 3 short lines fanning out, like the bell is ringing.

  11. Step 11: Cream face, pink cheeks

Colour the face cream, going round the eyes, cheeks and tongue. Colour the cheeks and tongue pink.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Yellow bells

Colour the 2 bells and the hammer ball yellow.

  13. Step 13: Blue rim and feet

Go over your lines. Colour the rim, the bell necks and brims, and the 2 feet blue.
