How to Draw a Claw Hammer Nail
Draw a claw hammer nail in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the board.
Step 1: The board
Low on your paper draw a long flat box from side to side for the board.
Tip The curved claw hooks under a nail head to pull it out.
Step 2: The hammer head
Draw the hammer head resting on the board: a flat end on the right, a curved claw lifting up left.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the fat middle of the head draw 2 big round eyes. Colour a black dot in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a small U smile, and a tiny oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: The handle
Start on top of the head. Draw 2 long lines up, leaning right. Stop a hand from the top.
Step 6: The grip
On the end of the handle draw a fat grip with a round top. Add 2 lines across it.
Step 7: The nail
Draw a flat nail head sitting on the claw tip. Add 2 lines from it down to the board.
Step 8: Pull lines
Draw 2 short pull lines left of the nail head, and 2 wavy grain lines on the board.
Step 9: Grey nail, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the nail light grey and the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 10: Tan board, wood handle
Colour the board tan and the handle wood brown, up to the grip.
Step 11: Red grip
Colour the fat grip at the end of the handle red.
Step 12: Grey head
Colour the head and claw dark grey around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white. Out comes the nail!
