How to Draw a Protractor
Draw a protractor in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the half circle.
Step 1: The half circle
In the middle draw a big rainbow, as wide as your hand, closed with a straight line along the bottom.
Tip Draw the flat bottom line first, then arch the rainbow over it.
Step 2: The inner arch
Inside draw a smaller rainbow, a finger in from the edge. Draw 2 straight lines under it, close together.
Step 3: Two big eyes
High in the clear middle draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile, eye to eye, and a small oval cheek beside each end.
Step 5: The number ticks
Along the inner arch draw short tick lines poking out into the band, evenly spaced from end to end.
Tip Make every third tick a little longer, like a ruler bent into a rainbow.
Step 6: The centre hole
In the middle of the 2 bottom lines draw a small circle for the centre hole.
Step 7: The desk
Draw a straight desk line along the bottom of the protractor, from well left to well right.
Step 8: Two sparkles
Add 2 small sparkles in the air, one on each side of the arch.
Step 9: Pink cheeks
Go over your lines, then colour the cheeks pink.
Step 10: Blue plastic
Colour the number band light blue, leaving the middle, the eyes and the hole white.
Step 11: Grey hole
Colour the centre hole grey, and your protractor is ready to measure angles!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a protractor, drawn by you.
