How to Draw a Classic Car

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a classic car in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: bonnet and tall cabin.

Print

  1. Step 1: Bonnet and tall cabin

Draw the body: up the front, along a long bonnet, up a steep windscreen, over a tall cabin, and down.

Tip Old cars sit up tall with an upright windscreen.

  2. Step 2: Tall grille and bumper

On the front of the bonnet, draw a tall rounded box with 2 lines down it. Add a bumper below.

  3. Step 3: Headlamp eye

A little back from the grille, draw a big round headlamp eye. Add a black dot with 2 white shines.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheek

Under the eye, draw a U smile from left to right. Add a round cheek beside it, toward the back.

  5. Step 5: Two round fenders

Under the bonnet and under the cabin, draw a fat rainbow band each, like 2 separate mudguards.

  6. Step 6: Wheels and hubs

Inside each fender, draw a big round tyre with a little air around it. Add a smaller circle hub.

  7. Step 7: Running board and door

Draw a flat plank from fender to fender. Rule a door line from the windscreen down to the bottom.

  8. Step 8: Windows and pillar

Start above the bonnet. Draw a window up the windscreen, under the roof, down, and back to the start.

  9. Step 9: Luggage trunk

On the back, draw a rounded box sticking out, resting on the back fender. Add a lid line across it.

  10. Step 10: Road and shine

From below the bumper, draw a straight road under both tyres to just past the trunk. Add a windscreen shine.

  11. Step 11: Cream body, pink cheek

Colour the body cream around the windows and handle, and the cheek pink. Leave the eye white.

  12. Step 12: Sky windows, grey metal

Colour the windows sky blue, leaving the shine white. Colour the grille, bumper and handle grey.

  13. Step 13: Navy fenders, black tyres

Colour the fenders, running board and trunk navy, and the tyres black. Leave the hubs white.
