How to Draw a Circus Train
Draw a circus train in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two wagons.
Step 1: Two wagons
Draw 2 long flat boxes in a row for the wagon floors. High above each one, draw a curved roof.
Tip Leave room on the left for the engine.
Step 2: Lion's mane
In the first wagon, draw a bumpy circle sitting on the floor. Inside, draw a wide face and 2 ears.
Step 3: Lion's face
Draw 2 dot eyes on the lion. Add a little black nose and a mouth like a w under it.
Step 4: Giraffe neck
Start on the second floor. Draw 2 neck lines up through the roof and stop. Rub out the roof between.
Tip Curve the right line out at the bottom for the giraffe's sloping back.
Step 5: Giraffe head
On top of the neck, draw a long head pointing left. Add 2 little horns with knobs and 1 ear.
Step 6: Eye, smile and spots
Give the giraffe a dot eye and a little smile. Draw 2 round spots on its neck.
Step 7: Cage bars
On each wagon, draw 4 straight bars from the roof to the floor: 1 at each end, 2 between.
Tip Keep the bars off the lion's face.
Step 8: Engine
In front of the wagons, draw the engine: a low nose, a tall cab and a flat roof.
Step 9: Chimney and window
Draw a chimney on the engine's nose and a window in the cab. Join the wagons with 2 short lines.
Step 10: Wheels and track
Draw 2 round wheels under the engine and 2 under each wagon. Draw a long track line under them.
Step 11: Yellow and brown
Colour the giraffe and the lion's face yellow, but not the 2 spots. Colour the spots brown.
Step 12: Orange and light blue
Colour the lion's bumpy mane orange. Colour the cab window light blue.
Step 13: Red and blue
Colour the engine red. Colour the 2 roofs and the 2 floors blue.
Step 14: Grey wheels
Colour the 6 wheels and the chimney grey. All aboard the circus train!
