How to Draw an Oil Tanker
Draw an oil tanker in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the waves.
Step 1: The waves
Low on your paper draw one long wavy line from edge to edge for the sea. Add small ripples.
Step 2: Long low hull
Start on the wave on the left. Draw a pointed front and a long flat deck, stop on the wave.
Tip An oil tanker is very long and very low.
Step 3: Porthole eyes
On the front of the hull draw 2 big porthole eyes. Put a dot with a tiny shine in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Low between the eyes draw a small U smile, and a round cheek outside each eye.
Step 5: The bridge
Near the back, start on the deck and draw a tall box for the bridge, stop on the deck.
Step 6: Windows and funnel
Draw 3 little square windows on the bridge. Start on the roof, draw a short funnel, stop on the roof.
Step 7: The long pipe
Start near the front. Draw one long fat pipe along the deck, stop at the bridge. Add 4 legs.
Step 8: Valve wheels and mast
Draw 3 round wheels on the pipe. From the deck at the front, draw a mast up to a bar.
Step 9: Pink cheeks
Go over your lines, then colour the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 10: Red hull
Colour the hull red, going around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: White bridge, grey pipe
Leave the bridge white. Colour the funnel, pipe and wheels grey.
Step 12: Blue sea, sky windows
Colour the sea blue under the wavy line and the windows sky blue. Your oil tanker is done!
