How to Draw a Monster Truck Jumping
Draw a monster truck jumping in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two giant tyres.
Step 1: Two giant tyres
Draw a giant circle, fist-sized, on the left. Draw another on the right, a little lower, with a gap between.
Tip The truck is leaping nose-up, so everything leans. Leave room under the tyres.
Step 2: Tilted truck body
Above the tyres, draw the truck leaning the same way: nose, hood, tall cab, flat bed, tail, then the floor.
Tip The floor slants like the tyres and floats a finger above them.
Step 3: Headlight eye and smile
On the nose, draw one big round headlight eye with a black pupil. Under it, draw a bold U smile.
Tip One smooth smile, no wiggles. Add 2 white shines to the eye.
Step 4: Window and pillar
Inside the cab, draw a tall D window. Start low on the windscreen, go up, along, and down to it.
Tip Split it with a pillar line and add a short shine dash.
Step 5: Rims and hubs
In each tyre, draw a rim circle and a small hub in the middle.
Tip Leave a thick tyre wall all round.
Step 6: Tread lines
Round each tyre, draw 6 short tread lines in from the edge, spaced like a clock.
Step 7: Struts and spring
From the floor, draw a fat post onto each tyre. Draw a bar between. Zigzag a spring down to it.
Tip The spring starts mid-floor and stops on the bar.
Step 8: Door and bolt
Start where the cab meets the bed. Draw a door line down to the floor. Add a handle and bolt.
Tip The handle is a small pill. The lightning bolt is a zigzag, all inside the bed.
Step 9: Ground and dirt ramp
Draw a straight ground line low across the page. On it, under the back tyre, draw a dirt ramp.
Tip The ramp starts on the ground, climbs steeply, then slopes down to stop on the ground. Leave air under the tyres.
Step 10: Dust and zoom
Over the ramp, draw 2 round dust puffs, away from the tyre. Add 2 short zoom lines behind the tail.
Step 11: Yellow light and bolt
Go over your lines. Colour the headlight eye and the lightning bolt yellow.
Step 12: Green body, sky window
Colour the body green around the headlight and the bolt. Colour the window sky blue.
Step 13: Grey metal, dark tyres
Colour the rims, posts, bar and dust puffs grey. Colour the tyres dark grey around the rims.
Step 14: Brown ramp
Colour the dirt ramp brown. Your monster truck is flying!
