How to Draw a Maryland Flag
Draw a maryland flag in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the flag pole.
Step 1: The flag pole
On the left draw a tall thin pole from near the bottom to near the top. Add a ball.
Step 2: The waving flag
Start on the pole below the ball. Wave the top edge out to the right, come down, and wave back.
Tip Make the flag big. It has a lot to hold.
Step 3: Four quarters
Start in the middle of the top edge. Draw straight down, stop at the bottom. Add a wavy line across.
Tip The wavy line starts on the pole, halfway down the flag, and stops at the right edge. Now you have 4 quarters.
Step 4: Six stripes
In the top left quarter draw 5 lines straight down, making 6 even stripes.
Step 5: Six more stripes
In the bottom right quarter draw 5 more lines straight down, making 6 even stripes.
Step 6: Slanted bands
Across each striped quarter draw a slanted band, 2 lines, from the top left corner to the bottom right.
Tip Keep the 2 lines of a band the same distance apart all the way.
Step 7: Two plus signs
In each empty quarter draw a plus: one line down the middle and one line across the middle.
Step 8: A bumpy cross
In the top right quarter draw a cross over the plus. End each arm with 3 round bumps.
Tip The arms going sideways are longer than the arms going up and down.
Step 9: Second bumpy cross
Draw the same bumpy cross over the plus in the bottom left quarter.
Step 10: Ground line
Draw a long flat ground line under the pole, from the left side to the right side.
Step 11: Yellow ball, grey pole
Colour the ball on top of the pole yellow and the pole grey.
Step 12: Yellow stripes
Colour stripes 1, 3 and 5 yellow outside the slanted band. Inside the band colour stripes 2, 4 and 6.
Tip Count the stripes from the left. Do both striped quarters the same way.
Step 13: Red squares
Colour the top right and bottom left squares red, not the cross. In the other 2 colour only the cross.
Tip Do this in both cross quarters. Each cross ends up half red and half white.
Step 14: Black stripes
Colour every piece left in the striped quarters black. Go over your lines. Your Maryland flag is waving!
