How to Draw Cirrus Clouds
Draw cirrus clouds in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the first wisp.
Step 1: The first wisp
High up draw a long thin streak curling over at the right end, with a thin strand under its tail.
Tip Cirrus clouds are thin wispy streaks very high up: no puffy bumps.
Step 2: The second wisp
Lower down draw the longest streak, curling at its left end and trailing off to the right.
Step 3: Two more wisps
Draw a short curling streak lower on the left with a strand under it, and a small streak top right.
Step 4: The near hill
Low on the left, from the edge of your paper, draw a gentle hill curving down to the bottom.
Step 5: The far hill
From behind the near hill draw a second low hill line across to the right edge.
Step 6: Two trees
Draw a tree on each hill, smaller on the right: a bumpy round top on a short trunk.
Step 7: The sun
Draw a sun with short rays on the right, in the clear sky below the wisps and above the hills.
Step 8: Two birds
In the open sky between the sun and the trees draw 2 little flying birds, like shallow Vs.
Step 9: Yellow sun, blue sky
Go over your lines. Colour the sun yellow and the sky light blue around everything, leaving the wisps white.
Step 10: Green hills, brown trunks
Colour both hills light green right to the edges, and the tree trunks wood brown.
Step 11: Dark green trees
Colour the tree tops darker green. Your cirrus clouds are done!
