How to Draw a Chrysanthemum
Draw a chrysanthemum in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the middle.
Step 1: The middle
Near the top, draw a small circle about as big as a walnut. The face goes on it.
Step 2: Eyes and smile
In the middle of the circle, draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots and a wide U smile.
Step 3: Twelve short petals
Start on the circle. Draw 12 short petal loops all the way round, and stop where you started.
Tip Keep the loops packed close together, so the flower looks fluffy like a pom-pom.
Step 4: Twenty-four long petals
Start behind a short petal. Draw 24 long thin petal loops all round, and stop where you started.
Step 5: The stem
Start under the petals. Draw 2 curved lines down to near the bottom, wider apart at the bottom.
Step 6: Two leaves
Start on the stem below the petals. Draw a fat leaf out left, back to the stem. Do the right.
Step 7: Leaf veins
Start on the stem in the middle of each leaf. Draw 1 curved vein out, stopping short of the tip.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Start near the left edge. Draw a ground line through the stem and stop near the right edge. Add grass.
Step 9: Pink cheeks
Colour 2 rosy pink cheeks under the eyes.
Step 10: Yellow middle
Colour the middle yellow, around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Orange petals
Colour both rings of petals orange, around the yellow middle, right to their tips.
Step 12: Green stem and leaves
Colour the stem and leaves green. Go over your lines and your chrysanthemum is done!
