How to Draw a Cactus Family
Draw a cactus family in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big cactus.
Step 1: Big cactus
Start low in the middle. Draw up, over like a tall upside-down U, and down to stop level.
Tip Leave room on both sides for two more cactuses.
Step 2: First happy face
Near the top draw 2 oval eyes with black dots, and a U smile under them.
Step 3: Two arms
Start on the left side, draw an arm curling up, and stop on the body. Same on the right, lower.
Tip Rub out the body line inside each arm, so arm and body are one shape.
Step 4: Middle cactus
On the left, start low. Draw a shorter upside-down U and stop level with your start.
Step 5: Baby cactus
On the right, start low. Draw a small round hump like half a ball, and stop level.
Step 6: The sand
Draw a gently wavy line from edge to edge, under the feet of all 3 cactuses.
Step 7: Two more faces
Give the 2 small cactuses the same happy face: 2 eyes and a smile each.
Step 8: Flowers on top
On top of each small cactus draw a ring of 5 bumps with a dot in the middle.
Tip Rub out the cactus line inside each flower.
Step 9: Ribs
On each cactus draw 2 long lines from the top down to the sand, one each side of the face.
Step 10: Spines
Draw little V ticks for spines: one on each arm, and some above and below the faces.
Step 11: Pink flowers
Colour the 2 flowers pink, dots and all.
Step 12: Sandy ground
Colour the sand a sandy yellow, from edge to edge.
Step 13: Green cactuses
Colour all 3 cactuses leaf green, arms and all. Leave the eyes white.
