How to Draw a Choux

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a choux in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bottom puff.

Print

  1. Step 1: The bottom puff

Below the middle draw the bottom half of a round bun: a bowl shape with a dip across the top.

Tip A choux bun is a puffy pastry filled with cream.

  2. Step 2: The cream

On top of the bottom half draw puffy cream, bumpy along the bottom and bulging past both sides.

  3. Step 3: The bumpy cap

Draw the puffy cap on the cream: from the left end go over in 3 big bumps to the right.

  4. Step 4: Cracks

Draw a short slanted crack high on the right of the cap and a smaller one on the left.

  5. Step 5: A shine

Just inside the upper left edge of the cap, draw a thin curved sliver for a shine.

  6. Step 6: A plate

Under the bun draw a long flat oval plate, skipping behind the bun, and a second oval inside.

  7. Step 7: Crumbs

Draw 2 small lumpy crumbs on the plate, one on each side of the bun, away from the lines.

  8. Step 8: The table

Draw a table line under the plate from left to right, just touching its bottom.

  9. Step 9: White cream

Leave the cream white, going round each bump, and colour the crumbs tan.

  10. Step 10: Tan pastry

Go over your lines, then colour the cap and the bottom half tan, leaving the shine white.

  11. Step 11: Sky blue plate

Colour the plate sky blue, around the bun and the crumbs. Your choux bun is done!
