How to Draw a Chipmunk
Draw a chipmunk in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top draw a big bun head, narrow on top, with 2 fat round cheek pouches at the bottom.
Tip The bottom is 2 round lobes with a notch between, like an upside-down heart.
Step 2: Tiny round ears
On top of the head draw 2 tiny round ears poking up, with a smaller oval inside each.
Step 3: Two shiny eyes
Below the middle of the head draw 2 big round eyes, one eye apart. Add fat black dots with shines.
Step 4: Snout and nose
Under the eyes draw a heart snout. From a triangle nose in its dip draw a short line down. Stop.
Step 5: Smile and buck teeth
From the end of the short line draw a little smile each side. Hang 2 buck teeth from the middle.
Step 6: A round body
Start under the left pouch. Draw a tall round cushion body down and round, back up under the right pouch.
Tip No neck. Keep the body narrower than the cheeks so the head looks big.
Step 7: Fists and arms
Under the chin draw 2 round fists. From each body side draw a stubby arm in to its fist.
Tip Each arm is fatter at the shoulder than the wrist.
Step 8: The acorn
Between the fists draw an acorn: a wide cap like an upside-down bowl, with a round nut hanging under it.
Tip The cap shows above the fists; the bottom of the nut hides behind them.
Step 9: Cream tummy
Under the fists draw a big wide oval tummy patch, its bottom just above the bottom of the body.
Step 10: Feet, tail and ground
Draw a ground line and 2 bun feet. From the right hip draw a fluffy tail up to the cheek.
Tip The tail is fat in the middle, with soft bumps, and ends in a round tip beside the head.
Step 11: Chipmunk stripes
Draw 2 stripes down the forehead, a long stripe sloping over each eye, and a short one under it.
Tip The long stripes slope down from the top of the head, well away from the eyes. The short ones start at the edge of the head.
Step 12: Cream and tan
Colour the snout, side stripes, tummy and feet cream. Colour the acorn nut tan.
Step 13: Brown fur, black stripes
Colour the fur light brown around the cream, the acorn cap dark brown, and the forehead stripes and nose black.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
