How to Draw a Chinese House
Draw a chinese house in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the curly roof.
Step 1: The curly roof
Draw a wide roof with a flat top. Swoop each side down, curl it up, then join underneath.
Tip The curled-up corners are what make it a Chinese roof.
Step 2: The ridge
On the flat top draw a thin bar with both ends curling up into little points.
Tip The ridge ends curl up just like the roof corners.
Step 3: The walls
Start under the roof, in from the left. Draw down, across and up; stop under the roof.
Step 4: The stone base
Under the walls draw a long thin box, a bit wider than the walls. Add a ground line each side.
Step 5: Pillars and beam
Start under the roof and draw a line down inside each wall edge. Stop at the base. Add a beam.
Tip The 2 thin pillars hold the roof up.
Step 6: The double door
In the middle draw a tall door box standing on the base. Add a middle line and 2 panels.
Step 7: Round windows
Draw a round window on each side of the door. Add a cross in each one.
Tip Keep both windows level with each other.
Step 8: The front steps
Start at the door's bottom corners and draw 2 short lines down; stop at the ground. Add a line across.
Step 9: Roof tiles
Start at the ridge and draw 5 lines down the roof, fanning out a little; stop at the bottom edge.
Step 10: Hanging lanterns
Start under each roof corner: draw a string, a cap, a round lantern and a cap. Stop with a tassel.
Tip Make both lanterns the same size.
Step 11: Yellow windows, cream walls
Colour the round windows and the lantern caps yellow. Colour the walls cream, around the door.
Tip Leave the pillars, the beam and the door white for now.
Step 12: Red pillars and door
Colour the 2 pillars, the beam, the door and the 2 lanterns red.
Step 13: Green roof, grey base
Colour the roof and the ridge green and the stone base grey. Your Chinese house is done!
