How to Draw a Chicken Coop
Draw a chicken coop in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the roof.
Step 1: The roof
Near the top draw a pointy roof sloping down each side to a thick brim with rounded ends.
Step 2: The walls
From the brim's left end, draw a short wall down, a flat floor across, and back up to the brim.
Tip The walls are short: this little house stands up on legs.
Step 3: Legs and ground
Draw a ground line with grass at each end. Add 4 short legs from the floor down to it.
Step 4: The pop hole
In the middle of the front wall draw the pop hole: a tall arched doorway standing on the floor.
Step 5: Head and comb
In the doorway draw the hen's round head. Put 3 soft round comb bumps on top.
Tip She's peeking out: leave a gap between her comb and the arch.
Step 6: Eyes and beak
Draw 2 round eyes with dots and shines. Add a small triangle beak pointing down under them.
Step 7: Body and wings
From each side of her head, curve down to the floor. Inside each, draw a wing curve the same way.
Step 8: The ramp
From the pop hole draw a wide ramp sloping down right to the ground. Add 3 rungs across it.
Tip The ramp goes in front of the legs: rub out the legs it crosses.
Step 9: Window and eggs
Draw a round window with a cross on the left wall. Put 2 eggs on the ground, one lying down.
Step 10: Yellow beak, sky window
Leave the hen, her eyes and the eggs white. Colour the beak yellow and the window sky blue.
Step 11: Woody walls
Colour the walls woody brown, around the window and the pop hole.
Step 12: Red roof and comb
Colour the roof and her comb red.
Step 13: Brown legs, dark doorway
Colour the legs and ramp brown, and the pop hole slate grey around the hen. Go over your lines!
