How to Draw a Chibi

Draw a chibi in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.

Step 1: Big round head
Near the top, draw a big wide egg for the head. Make it almost half as tall as the page.
Tip A chibi head is as tall as the whole body.
Step 2: Huge eyes
Below the middle of the head, draw 2 tall oval eyes. Add an iris, a black pupil and 2 shines.
Tip Leave a gap one eye wide between the eyes.
Step 3: Little smile
Between the eyes and the chin, draw a small U smile.
Step 4: Bob hair
Draw hair over the top of the head and down past each cheek. Join the sides with a bumpy fringe.
Tip Rub out the head line inside the hair.
Step 5: Hair bow
On the hair, at the top right, draw a small circle knot with a round loop on each side.
Step 6: Little dress
Under the chin, draw a small dress with short sleeves and a wide curved hem. Add a band line.
Tip The dress is much smaller than the head.
Step 7: Short arms
From each sleeve, draw a short arm reaching out. End it in a round mitten hand with a thumb.
Step 8: Short legs
Start at the hem and draw 2 short legs down, a little narrower at the ankle. Stop above the ground.
Step 9: Round shoes
Under each leg draw a round shoe, flat on the bottom, with the toe pointing out.
Step 10: Ground line
Start left of the shoes and draw a ground line under both, stopping past the right shoe.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour 2 pink cheeks. Colour the face around them, the arms and the legs peach. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Pink dress
Colour the dress and its sleeves pink, down to the band line.
Step 13: Red and green
Colour the bow, the band and the shoes red. Colour the irises green around the pupils.
Step 14: Brown hair
Colour the hair and fringe brown, around the bow. Your chibi is done!
