How to Draw a Dragon Eye
Draw a dragon eye in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big almond.
Step 1: Big almond
In the middle, draw 1 big almond on its side, pointy at both ends.
Tip Make it big: as wide as your hand.
Step 2: The iris
Inside the almond, draw a big iris circle in the middle, nearly touching the top and bottom.
Step 3: Slit pupil
In the iris, draw a tall thin slit pupil like a cat's eye, pointed top and bottom. Colour it black.
Step 4: Two shines
Draw a small circle on the top left of the pupil and a tiny one bottom right. Leave them white.
Step 5: Thick eyelids
Draw a bigger almond around the eye, a finger away all round, pointy at both ends.
Step 6: Brow ridge
Start on the top lid near the left corner. Draw a thick arch over to the right corner.
Tip The ridge rests on the lid like a thick eyebrow.
Step 7: Three spikes
On top of the ridge, draw 3 pointed spikes: a tall one in the middle and one on each side.
Step 8: Dragon skin
Draw a big square with round corners around everything, for a patch of dragon skin.
Step 9: Scales
Hang a row of 5 U scales under the bottom lid. Add 4 more below, like roof tiles.
Step 10: Golden eye
Colour the iris orange with a yellow middle around the slit. Colour the 3 spikes yellow. Leave the eye white.
Step 11: Light green skin
Colour the skin light green, around the eyelids, the ridge and the spikes.
Step 12: Dark green ridge
Colour the eyelids and the brow ridge dark green. Your dragon eye is done!
